Susan Murray named 2025 Commonwealth Heroine by Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women
Susan Murray, a resident of Dartmouth and member of the Board of Health, has been named a 2025 Commonwealth Heroine by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, an honor recognizing women who make a impact in their communities through quiet, consistent service.
Each year, the commission partners with state legislators to honor more than 125 women across Massachusetts who are leaders, advocates and volunteers making a difference in their neighborhoods and often without public recognition. The Commonwealth Heroines are described as “women who don’t make the news, but make all the difference.”
State Representative Christopher Markey nominated Murray for the honor, praising her deep commitment to the Dartmouth community and beyond.
“Susan has distinguished herself as an invaluable member of our community, selflessly contributing her talents to the betterment of our Commonwealth,” said Markey. “A truly engaged citizen and neighbor, Susan cultivates the food on our dinner tables, serves our Dartmouth Board of Health and advocates for farmers in the halls of the State House. We are all better for having known Susan Murray and her works.”
Murray will be honored as part of the 22nd Annual Commonwealth Heroines Celebration, to be held Thursday, June 26, at the Massachusetts Statehouse in the Gardner Auditorium.
“The Commonwealth Heroines are mentors, volunteers and innovators — the glue that keeps a community together,” said Commission Chairwoman Mary-dith Tuitt. “They use their time, talent, spirit, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others.”
