Suspect caught in alleged Stop and Shop shoplifting
A Dartmouth Police officer working a traffic detail on Faunce Corner Road recently assisted in the arrest of a suspected shoplifter.
Juan Goyco, 38, of New Bedford was arrested on April 28 after loss prevention at Stop and Shop alerted police to a suspected shoplifting incident at the store, according to police.
Dartmouth Police Detective Kyle Costa said that officer Darren Emond was working a detail at the time of the alleged incident, and was able to pull over the car Goyco was traveling in and apprehend the suspect.
“Having more boots on the ground is always beneficial to the department,” said Costa. “If it wasn’t for Officer Emond being out there, he might not have been caught.”
Goyco, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest, was charged with larceny over $250 and providing a false name to police officers.
