Suspect at large after stealing pickup truck, fleeing from police

Dartmouth police are searching for a suspect who allegedly fled from police in a stolen pickup truck early Sunday morning.

According to Dartmouth police, an officer attempted to pull over a 2007 Ford F150 at 4:59 a.m. after the driver failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Bridge and Elm Streets.

The driver fled from police but crashed a short time later in the area of Smith Neck Road. The driver, described as a thin white male with dirty blond hair wearing pajamas, then fled into the woods.

Despite a search by the department’s K-9 unit, the suspect was not found.

The pickup truck was stolen from a home on Degaris Avenue. According to police, the suspect broke into the home to steal the keys to the truck.

The suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
