Tennis players in Dartmouth looking to hit the courts this summer have a new opportunity to serve up some fun.

The Mattapoisett Community Tennis Association, which serves players in Dartmouth, Mattapoisett, Marion and Fairhaven, is inviting men and women to join its summer drop-in tennis league. The league meets three mornings a week and welcomes players who enjoy competitive yet social play.

Drop-in matches are held at 8 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at a central location on Route 6. Players of USTA level 3.5 or higher are encouraged to join.

“We welcome anyone who would both enjoy playing tennis, with no promise of playing in the U.S. Open, and also enjoys having a good time with many sociable people,” association member Mike Hickey said.

The association currently has around 24 active players and about 50 members total.
