Enjoy soup, sandwich, and classic hits.

The Dartmouth Council on Aging will host a “Soup and Sandwich” lunch featuring a performance by singer George Cataldo, 12-2 p.m. at the Senior Center. Songs will include hits from the 1940s to the 1970s. The cost to attend is $3; sign up at the Senior Center front desk, or call the center at (508) 999-4717 for more information.

Saturday, January 20

Discover nature.

From 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the Lloyd Center for the Environment will be hosting a nature discovery program for children. It will include readings of nature themed books, live animal demonstrations, specimen observation, hiking, and nature themed crafts. The program is ideal for kids ages 2-6, but is open to all ages. The event is $5 for Lloyd Center members and $6 for nonmembers. Visit lloydcenter.org for more information.

Give a hoot.

Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary will invite owl lovers to a special search for snowy owls, 9-11:30 a.m. at its 1280 Horseneck Road sanctuary. The search will include a 2.5-mile hike along the sanctuary's beach loop trail. Those attending should bring binoculars or a scope. Registration is required and is $12 for Mass Audubon members and $15.00 for non-members. Call (508) 636-2437 or visit massaudubon.org to register.

This Old House: Dartmouth edition.

Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society will host a film screening highlighting a historic Dartmouth house, 2:30 p.m. at the society's 1250 Russells Mills Road headquarters. 35-minute film features the 1702 Cummings House, located on Old Westport Road. It was produced by a group of local history buffs who went on a tour of the house in 2015, and has been in production for more than two years. The film includes historic photos, video from the tour, and historical information. A questions-and-answers session and discussion will follow the screening. The suggested donation to attend is $5. Light refreshments will be served.
