Tournament action begins on Friday at the Dartmouth Youth Activities Association's annual John B. Steele Tournament. Games begin at 5:30 p.m. in the 14U and 16U divisions, and 6 p.m. in the U10 and U12 divisions. Games continue on Saturday, and the championship games for each division are Sunday. Go into camp overtime.
The Dartmouth YMCA's day camp will go into overtime and will be open to the public Metapalooza, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the YMCA's 276 Gulf Rd. location. During the event, participate in a variety of camp activities like swimming, archery, rock climbing, a bounce house, and a DJ. Pizza will be served. The cost is $20 for YMCA members, and $25 for other participants. Pre-registration is required. Call (508) 993-3361 to register.

Help kids start off school right.
The Salvation Army will be hosting a collection drive for school supplies at Walmart, 506 State Rd., from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The most needed supplies include flashcards, pocket folders, three-ring binders, rulers, #2 pencils, spiral notebooks, safety scissors, pencil sharpeners, and color pencils. Learn about cold-blooded animals.
The Lloyd Center will host its "Cold-Blooded Crusade" event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its 430 Potomska Rd. location. During the event, a Lloyd Center naturalist will lead a discussion about cold-blooded creatures native to Massachusetts, an up-close look at some of the animals, and a hike through the forest in search of them. The cost is $5 for memers, $7 for non-members, $15 for a family of four members, and $21 for a family of four non-members. Pre-registration is required. Visit lloydcenter.org to preregister.
The Knights of Columbus will host its annual free “Get Hooked on Fishing, Not On Drugs” fishing derby from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Mello’s Pond. The pond is located on Old Westport Road one mile west of UMass Dartmouth at the end of a dirt lane. It is open to children between the ages of six and 16. Bait will be provided.
