Cheer on the home team.

The Dartmouth Indians football team competes in the opening round of playoff action with a home game, 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

Do the time warp.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's 20 Cent Fiction student group will open its 24th annual performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at 8 p.m. on Friday. Shows are also scheduled for October 28 at midnight, and October 29 and 31 at 8 pm. Tickets are $5 for UMass Dartmouth students, $7 for staff and alumni, and $10 for the general public. Doors open an hour before each show, and only dry props will be permitted.

Go for a creepy hike.

The Lloyd Center for the Environment will host a Halloween-themed nature walk at its 430 Potomska Road location, 6-7 p.m. Education on night creatures like owls, spiders, bats, and snakes will be offered, along with a nighttime hike and stroll through the center's jack-o-lantern display. The cost to attend is $8 for members and $10 for non-members, and $24 for family of four. Pre-registration is required. Visit lloydcenter.org to preregister or for more information.

Honor a fallen firefighter.

A memorial craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Dartmouth Middle School gymnasium to benefit firefighter Ryan Ferreira, a Dartmouth and Walpole firefighter who passed away in 2016 at the age of 31. The fair will include face painting, tattoos, a raffle, and more than 50 vendors who will be on site selling and showcasing their products and services. Proceeds will benefit a memorial fund to support the family Ferreira left behind.

Eat and support a cause.

The Dartmouth High School Alumni Association will host its monthly dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Council on Aging, 628 Dartmouth Street. The dinner menu will include ham and baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, homemade desserts, and a beverage. Proceeds benefit the association's alumni scholarship fund. Reach for the stars.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Observatory will be open for public viewings starting at 7:30 p.m. Staff from the observatory and the Astronomical Society of Southern New England will be on site and will allow visitors to view the night sky through the observatory’s 16-inch telescope, and other telescopes set up at the event. Viewings will only take place if weather permits and the skies are clear. Cancellation announcements will be made at around 5 p.m. the day of an open house. Enjoy a meat pie supper.

Smith Neck Friends Meeting will host a meat pie supper at 6 p.m. at its 594 Smith Neck Road location. The supper menu includes candied carrots, mashed potatoes, gravy, and homemade desserts. Celebrate Halloween with the fire department.

Dartmouth Fire District No. 1 and Parks and Recreation will host a Halloween bash at the 10 Bridge Street fire station, 6-8 p.m. The event will include trick or treating, opportunities to explore and touch fire trucks, refreshments, and other activities. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in costumes.

Tuesday, October 31

March in a parade.

Dartmouth Fire District No. 3’s annual Halloween parade begins at 6 p.m. from the 140 Cross Road headquarters building and runs up and down Cross Road. A magic show will be presented at the conclusion of the parade at the fire station.
