Things to do: Shop for plants, grab a snack with the Easter Bunny

There’s a lot happening in Dartmouth in any given week, here’s what’s coming up this week.

All week

See daffodils bloom

The daffodil fields at at the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust’s Parsons Reserve are nearing peak bloom. The reserve is open 8 a.m. through 7 p.m. seven days a week.

Parsons Reserve is located on Horseneck Road south of Russells Mills Village. Parking is available at Russells Mills Landing and, if full, in an additional marked area south of the landing.

There is an 8 to 10 minute hike through the woods from the parking area to the field. This trail is steep and is NOT suitable for strollers, wagons, or wheelchairs.

Admission is free for DNRT members and a $5 donation for non-members.

Friday, April 15

Celebrate five decades of Meals on Wheels

Celebrate 50 years of Meals on Wheels with a free lunch on Friday, April 15 at 11:30 a.m. The event will feature a meal of Italian stuffed shells with cake for dessert. There will also be music, bingo, and prizes. Preregistration is required. To sign up call the center at (508) 999-4717.

Saturday, April 16

First Open Farm Day of 2022

Round the Bend farm will host its first Open Farm Day of the year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the farm located 92 Allens Neck Road.

Farm-fresh items and locally made or crafted creations will be available for sale for any last-minute Easter dinner shoppers.

Tours are family-friendly and offer a chance to see the gardens, animals, and the Learning Center. The tours introduce visitors to the mission, value and practices of the farm, along with the chance to play with the farm’s new baby goats.

Four tours will be offered, with sessions held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m.

Spring plant sale

Helfand Farm and Community Gardens will host its annual spring plant sale Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The gardens are located at 318 Chase Road.

Get your car washed by Troop 74

Boy Scouts of Troop 74 Dartmouth will host a car wash fundraiser at the Smith Mills Church on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is free, but donations are accepted.

Funds raised from the wash will go toward future programming and equipment for the scouts.

The church is located at 11 Anderson Way.

Grab cupcakes with the Easter Bunny

From 1 to 3 p.m. children will be able to take photos and grab a cupcake with the Easter Bunny at the Stackhouse Club on Faith St.

The cost is $10 per child and will a cupcake and juice box, along with picture with the Easter Bunny. An Easter Egg Hunt will also be held on the Stackhouse Fairgrounds.

Learn to make wildflower seed bombs

The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust will host a workshop to create wildflower seed bombs on April 20 at 10 a.m.

Seed bombs are small balls that can be made with either clay, paper, or soil.

The workshop will be hosted at the DNRT Center at Helfand Farm located at 318 Chase Road. Cost of the workshop is $10. To sign up, visit dnrt.org/product/make-your-own-wildflower-seed-bombs/.
