Saturday, February 18
Discover nature.
The Lloyd Center will host its monthly Nature Discoveries drop-in program for all ages, 9:30–10:30 a.m., at its 430 Potomska Road location. The price is $5 for members; $6 for non-members. The event is suited for children ages 2-6, but younger or older siblings are welcome. Nature Discoveries features live animal demonstrations, specimens to observe and touch, hikes, activities, and crafts. Contact Jen Wimmer at (508) 990-0505, ext.14 or jen@lloydcenter.org with questions.
Go treasure hunting.
Learn about geocaching — an outdoor activity that requires GPS devices to search for containers marked with coordinates — with local expert Tyler Clark at 11:30 a.m. at the Southworth Library. Clark has been geocaching for almost ten years, and his talk will include slides of some of his 6,000 geocaches in 19 states.
Sunday, February 19
Explore history.
Historian Claude Ledoux will discuss Native American farming at 6:30 p.m. at the Russells Millls Schoolhouse. Learn about natives' agricultural style, hunting and cooking techniques, and health. A $5 donation is suggested to help fund activities, such as this one, hosted by the Dartmouth Historical & Arts Society. The schoolhouse is located at 1205 Russells Mills Road.
