Friday, July 7

Hit the water.

The Parks Department has teamed up with Osprey Sea & Surf to offer a three-hour kayaking introduction at Apponagansett Park. The session will be held for kids, aged 11-15, at 9:30 a.m. Classes introduce participants to the basics with an on-land lesson on equipment and basic paddle strokes, and in-water games and skill development. The fee is $50 per class; all necessary equipment will be provided.

Saturday, July 8

Set sail.

The New Bedford Yacht Club’s annual New Bedford Junior Regatta will be held on July 8-9 in Padanaram Harbor. Teams will take to the water starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday following meetings between skippers who are racing. The racing area is within Padanaram’s outer harbor, approximately a quarter-mile south of Apponagansett Bay. Saturday's final races will start no later than 4 p.m. On Sunday, no races will start after 1 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Shop a flea market.

The Smith Neck Friends’ annual flea market will be held at 594 Smith Neck Road, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. In addition to flea market items, baked goods, lobster rolls, and stuffed quahogs will also be offered. To pre-order lobster rolls, contact Carole at (508) 994-5108.

Retreat to your inner self.

The Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary and Yoga on Union will run day-long yoga, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at the Stone Barn. The program includes morning yoga, free time to walk around the property, and afternoon meditation and workshops. The event concludes with dinner and a guided evening beach hike. The cost is $125. Pre-registration is required; visit massaudubon.org or call (508) 636-2437. The Stone Barn is located at 786 E. The Paskamansett Concert Series continues with Lenny Solomon at the Grange Hall, located at 1133 Fisher Road. Tickets are the 7:30 p.m. concert are $15 for adults; $12 for kids, seniors, and college students; free for toddlers; or $35 for families. Sunday, July 9

Paddle along.

The Lloyd Center will host a women's canoe trip, 6-8:30 p.m., along the Slocum River. There is a short hike through the center's property at 430 Potomska Road to the launch site. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring water. The cost is $25 for Lloyd Center members; $30 for non-members. Pre-registration required; visit lloydcenter.org.

Relive history.

The Dartmouth Historical & Arts Society will continue its Sunday lectures at 6:30 p.m. Presenter Bob Harding will talk about war veteran Joseph Weaver and his house at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
