Three New Bedford men have been charged with breaking into cars in the Bliss Corner neighborhood.

According to police, officers were called to Stephen Street at 11:23 p.m. on Jan. 19 to investigate reports of three men breaking into cars.

An officer found the suspects walking on Dartmouth Street near McDonalds, and the men fled after they were confronted by police. The suspects were found after a search of the area by multiple officers.

The men, Xavier James Kennedy, 18, Jordan Tyler Bunting, 20, and Orion Taylor, 19, all of New Bedford, were taken into custody following the search.

All three are charged with five counts of felony breaking and entering into a motor vehicle during the nighttime, four counts of larceny, and two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime.

Police are using the incident to remind residents of the importance of keeping car doors locked.

“This incident should serve as a persuasive reminder to everyone to keep your doors locked, alarms armed, and to never leave valuables inside of an unattended motor vehicle,” said Dartmouth Police Chief Brian Levesque.
