Tucker Road reopened to traffic
Tucker Road has been reopened to traffic and power has been restored after trees came crashing down Thursday morning.
The road was closed between Route 6 and Allen Street ever since several trees took down power lines in the 1300 block of Tucker Road at around 11:54 a.m., according to a post on the Dartmouth Police Department Facebook page. The road was partially reopened to local traffic only at about 3:30 p.m.
Eversource spokesperson Michael Durand said the outage affected 230 customers. Durand said the trees caused extensive damage, and needed to be removed before Eversource crews could begin to repair damage.
As of 5:30 p.m., Durand said crews are still working to restore power. By 6 p.m., power was restored, according to the Eversource website.
Durand said the outage was caused by high winds in excess of 50 MPH. According to the National Weather Service, a High Wind Warning is in effect until 7 p.m. The warning predicted 15-25 MPH winds with gusts from 45-55 MPH, and warned of downed trees, tree limbs and isolated to scattered power outages.
On February 26, a tree fell in the 1200 block of Tucker Road and left power outages and road closures in its wake for most of the day.
