Two Dartmouth teens to compete for Miss Massachuetts' crown
Two Dartmouth teenagers will compete for the title of Miss Massachusetts’ Outstanding Teen at the organization’s 17th annual pageant Sunday, April 3.
Seventeen-year-old Stacie Hartman and 16-year-old Alyssa Maitoza will take the stage at 4 p.m. in New Bedford’s Keith Middle School alongside nine other teenagers from across the state.
The pageant is the official state preliminary for the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program. The competition is open to young ladies 13-17 years of age, and they will be judged on personal interview, talent, scholastic achievement, evening wear and onstage question and lifestyle and fitness.
Maitoza is the reigning Miss New Bedford’s Outstanding Teen. She is the daughter of Raymond and Jodie Maitoza. Her college plans are to receive a degree in English and communications and become a music therapist. She also aspires to a career as a Broadway actress. Heavily involved in the arts, both in school and in the community, she will perform a tap dance routine as her talent presentation. She has 14 years of dance training and has been a nine-year member of her studio’s competition dance team. She will perform the lead role of Ariel in the high school’s production of Disney’s Little Mermaid next month.
Hartman attends Dartmouth High School and is currently ranked as valedictorian of the junior class. She is the daughter of Mark and Debra Hartman of Dartmouth and is the reigning Miss Bristol County’s Outstanding Teen. She is ranked in the top 2 percent of the nation for her scores on the PSAT exam and has received numerous academic awards throughout her high school career. She is a member and officer of numerous school clubs at DHS. She has had roles in numerous school and community theatre productions. She will perform a Broadway vocal selection for her talent presentation at the pageant.
General admission is $20 for adults $15 for seniors and $10 for children 10 and younger. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door by cash or check only.
