Two evenings of one-act plays April 20, 27 at UMass
In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Reading Stage Series will present two evenings of readings of new one-act plays, written and directed by UMass Dartmouth students. Each of the two evenings will present five new plays, written as final projects for the Advanced Playwriting class offered by the English Department and taught by playwright and professor, Morgan James “Mwalim” Peters. The series will be presented on April 20 and 27, at 6:30 pm in the Liberal Arts Building, Room 104.
The April 20 presentations include: “Black Man vs. Black Man” by Andrade Crawford; “Bank” by Ashley Ramkissoon; “Stuck” by Emma Givney; “Inconvenience Store” by Nick Zalis; as well as a work by Robeson Rogers.
The April 27 line-up features: “The China Will Fall” by Autumn Ross; “The Marionette” by Casey J. Temblay; “To Whom It May Concern” by Rose Simplice; “Love Triangle of the Missing” by Sandra Dentino; and “The Thief, The Raven and The 1,000 Year Curse” by Andrew Bergeon.
The Reading Stage Series is a part of the Stone Soup arts and civic engagement initiative, as a service-learning component of the Advanced Playwriting course. The presentations are free and open to the public.
