Tyler Joseph Leonard, 29, of Dartmouth, passed away on Oct. 17, 2018.

He was the loving son of Dennis W. and Jeana M. (Baptista) Leonard. Born in New Bedford, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life. He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and Bridgewater State University.

Tyler loved to be with his family and friends. His smile would light up the room. He enjoyed playing the guitar and writing music. He had danced at the Dancer’s Edge for many years and played baseball and basketball for the D.Y.A.A.

He is survived by his parents; his brother, Taran J. Leonard; his niece, Brooklynn J. Callahan; his grandparents, Rosemary Baptista and Marie and Alfred Hetu; his uncles, Joel Baptista and wife Jennifer, Michael Leonard and his wife Vivian, and Ronald Leonard; his Godchildren, Alison and Craig Baptista; his great-aunts and great-uncles, Victor T. Souza, Jr., Rita L. Audette, Ruth A. Cafarelli, and Kathleen and Roger Levasseur; and many cousins and other extended family members.

He was predeceased by his grandfather Joseph Baptista, his great-grandparents, Mary L. Baptista, Rose Zager, and Victor and Mary Souza; his uncle, Robert Leonard, and his aunt, Donna Leonard.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Oct. 30 at 10 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be on Oct. 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
