UMass Dartmouth to host marine science symposium

Oct 29, 2019

UMass Dartmouth will host the second annual Marine Science and Technology symposium on November 1 at its 285 Old Westport Road campus.

The 2019 symposium, titled Accelerating the Southeastern Massachusetts Marine Science and Technology Corridor: An Industry, Academia, and Government Collaboration, will focus on collaboration between business, academia, and policy makers in marine science. It follows last year’s inaugural event on building the Blue Economy.

Items on the agenda feature a project update on the Vineyard offshore wind farm by representatives from Vineyard Wind as well as talks on Portuguese ocean startups and undersea defense research.

A number of business and government leaders will attend, including Congressman William Keating, Congressman Joseph Kennedy III, and State Representative Antonio Cabral.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. on November 1 in the Stoico/FIRSTFED Grand Reading Room, Claire T. Carney Library located on the main campus.
