UMass Dartmouth receives co-op state grant
Nov 06, 2026
Governor Maura Healey announced that UMass Dartmouth will be one of two schools receiving a grant to develop co-ops for students.
She is giving $60,000 to UMass Dartmouth and Worchester State University.
The co-ops are full time and paid experiences for students that last four to eight months. This allows students to gain professional experience in their field while getting their degrees.
UMass will be developing the co-ops this year and launching them in the 2027-2028 academic year.
There are now a total of five schools receiving grants to create co-ops. The grant is a part of the Massachusetts Cooperative Education Initiative, which is a partnership between the Department of High Education's Innovation Hub and UMass Lowel.
