UPDATE: Padanaram bridge reopens following mechanical failure

The Padanaram Bridge is now reopened to traffic after a mechanical failure left it closed for much of the morning.

The bridge was reported closed at around 9 .m. July 25. According to Dartmouth police, the closure was the result of an “unforeseen mechanical failure.”

As of 11:30 a.m., DPW crews could be seen working on the bridge. Detour signs were placed directing traffic along Russells Mills Road and Elm Street.

The bridge reopened at around noon, according to police.
