Update: Two sustain serious injuries in crash at Old Westport and Cross Roads

Two people were sent to the hospital following a two-car crash at the intersection of Old Westport and Cross Roads on July 27.

According to Dartmouth police, officers and emergency crews responded to the crash, involving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2008 Ford F250 pickup truck, at 10:29 a.m.

Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 also responded, and according to Chief Richard Arruda, one person inside the Chevrolet was trapped after the crash and had to be freed by fire crews.

The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet, identified as Richard Decosta, 75, and Andrea Decosta, 75, both of Dartmouth, were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford, identified as Brent Bonneau, 31, of Dartmouth, refused medical treatment at the scene.

The crash is currently under investigation by members of the Dartmouth Police
Department Crash Reconstruction Unit. The crash resulted in detours for several hours as police investigated.
