Weeks-long investigation leads to drug arrest
Police arrested Nicholas Azeredo, 40, of Dartmouth, who is now being charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of 100 grams and possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug after a search of his residence Thursday, May 2.
This arrest comes after a weeks-long investigation led by Detective Matthew Correia, with the assistance of other detectives assigned to the Dartmouth Police Community Impact Unit.
During the search of the Gibson Terrace home, detectives discovered approximately 55 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 55 grams of suspected powder cocaine, a digital scale and seized $1255 in U.S. currency.
In addition, Edmund Melo, 30, and Joshua Bagao, 48, both of New Bedford, were arrested on scene regarding outstanding warrants.
The arrests involved the efforts of detectives assigned to the Special Operations Division of the Dartmouth Police Department, with the assistance of Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Bristol County State Police Detective Unit and detectives assigned to the Fairhaven Police Department.
