Winter sports resume at Dartmouth High
Dartmouth High’s winter season is back on following its week-long pause due to increasing Covid-19 cases, the school district announced Monday.
In a letter to families and athletes, Athletic Director Andrew Crisafulli wrote that all in-person athletic activity would resume Jan. 11.
“This has certainly been a challenging time for all of us but I’m thankful to our DHS families, coaches, and support staff for their cooperation, understanding, and communication throughout and look forward to safely welcoming back our student-athletes,” he wrote.
The letter notes that students returning from Covid-19 quarantine will be required to have a medical clearance in order to play.
“Each student-athlete’s return/timeline may look a little different depending on numerous factors,” the letter read. “Those decisions are made by each respective student-athlete’s doctor and something our athletic department will follow in the process of medically clearing a student-athlete.”
Along with getting clearance, school officials encourage student-athletes and coaches to remain vigilant and to continue masking up, keeping their hands sanitized, and to limit participation in social gatherings.
Every effort will be made to reschedule postponed competitions from last week’s pause, Crisafulli wrote.
