The Dartmouth Police responded to a reported carjacking at Best Buy on Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m.

According to the report, the 38-year-old New Bedford woman was sitting in her vehicle in the Best Buy parking lot waiting for her son to get out of work, when she was approached by the suspect, later identified as Jeffrey Shawn Link, 47, of 32 John Street, Fall River.

After forcing his way into the victim’s vehicle, Link struck her in the head with a bottle, and then drove away.

Upon notifying nearby police departments, Link was located in New Bedford and was arrested by detectives. He was charged with armed carjacking, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, threats to commit a crime, and assault to maim.

The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Best Buy is located at 29 Faunce Corner Road.
