As part of its celebration of Women’s History Month, the UMass Dartmouth Center for Women, Gender and Sexuality will co-host a Women's Herstory Month Closing Keynote speech by activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor on Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, but attendees must register via Zoom.

Award-winning performance poet and activist Sonya Renee Taylor will deliver a keynote titled The Body is Not an Apology: Radical Self-Love as Transformative Action.

Taylor has spoken to audiences around the world and was named one of Planned Parenthood’s 99 Dream Keepers in 2015, a Planned Parenthood Generation Action’s 2015 Outstanding Partner awardee, and one of the 12 Women Who Paved the Way for Body Positivity by Bustle Magazine.

The address is based on her role as the Founder and Radical Executive Officer of The Body is Not An Apology, a digital media and education company with content reaching half a million people each month.

Her keynote will be hosted in conjunction with six other collegiate women’s centers at the University of Connecticut, Georgia College, the University of Iowa, the University of Virginia, the University of New Mexico, and Virginia Tech.
