Young boy dies after medical distress at Jones Beach

A 9-year-old boy from Pawtucket, RI, died Sunday night after experiencing medical distress on Jones Beach in Dartmouth, announced Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn, III.

Dartmouth Police and EMS responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, where bystanders were performing CPR. 

Those on scene reported that the boy had been swimming and exited the water on his own and began experiencing medical distress on the beach. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

This matter is under investigation but not deemed suspicious at this time.
