Principal Gould thanks high school parents

Sep 15, 2015

Dear Dartmouth High School parents,

Having completed my first year as Dartmouth High School’s principal, I cannot thank you enough for the experience the Dartmouth community has given me. I am happy to report to you that Dartmouth students are high achieving and ready for the challenges the future will present to them.

Our commitment to educate the whole child ensures we emphasize good citizenship, respect and responsibility as we do not want to focus on our students becoming “well trained test-takers.” As evidence of this, Dartmouth students had many great experiences over the last school year.

A few of those experiences were the Dartmouth football team Super Bowl Championship, the New York City Art Trip and a graduation that saw 90 percent of its participants attend two- or four-year colleges.

Our main goal continues to be supporting the social, emotional and academic needs of our students.

High achievement and great experiences are more than just a school district or building effort; it is a community one. Going into my second year as your principal, I am even more committed to making sure we are engaged in our community, which has worked so hard to provide us with the resources we need to be successful. Without the support of the Dartmouth community, we could not accomplish all that we have achieved.

As a reflection of my brand of visible leadership, I want to share my Twitter handle, DHSprincipal555. Further, our school’s website will display a biweekly “School Fusion” letter detailing recent school developments. While these methods of communication reflect our efforts to engage the community, I look forward to seeing you at school events and encourage you to say hello and share your thoughts and concerns.

As a family man, I realize how much you care about supporting your children in their education. Everyone at Dartmouth High School looks forward to collaborating with you in that mission. I am excited about the coming year and will encourage our students to challenge themselves in every aspect of their education and to leave their mark on Dartmouth High School as well as the Dartmouth community as a whole.

As in my first year, I will continue to be a passionate worker and a good listener who offers hands-on leadership. Thank you for displaying faith in us by sending your children to Dartmouth High School.

John Gould, Ed. D

Principal of Dartmouth High School
