UMass art exhibition 'ConText' ends on Feb. 14

Jan 13, 2016

The exhibition ConTexts at the University Art Gallery in New Bedford presents a series of work by Wendy Wahl created from re-purposed encyclopedias.

Her three-dimensional works are made of hundreds of rolled paper strips glued onto a wooden panel and are sculpted into complex, repetitive reliefs. In Wahl's newest work created for the exhibition, she uses the tops of the pages with golden edges taken from old Funk and Wagnalls Encyclopedias.

Gallery exhibitions are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The exhibit opened on Nov. 25 and will remain open until Sunday, Feb. 14.
