A 42-year-old Dartmouth man was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison on Monday, April 18, after he was found guilty of sexual assault in New Bedford District Court, Dartmouth Police confirmed.

Sumkit Grace of 42 Milton St. was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and one count of open and gross lewdness, said Dartmouth Police Department's Detective Kyle Costa.

Grace will serve the 18 months remaining of his sentence at the Bristol County House of Correction. He was arrested in March of 2014 for two separate incidents involving two underage victims in Dartmouth. Because he was found guilty, Grace must register as a sex offender, Costa said.
