Psychologist to discuss discipline, parenting tips at talk

Clinical psychologist Dr. Thomas Phelan will lead a discussion on childhood health and wellness on March 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Friends Academy, located at 1088 Tucker Road.

As part of Friends Academy’s speaker series, Phelan’s talk will cover how to discipline children, set limits, have hard conversations, and effective parenting tools to raise children in the 21st century.

Phelan has 35 years of experience in clinical psychology and has raised two children of his own. He is also the author of “1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12,” and has written numerous articles in regional and national publications. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Illinois Psychological Association, and has also served on the boards of directors for both ADDA and CHADD, two ADHD international support groups.

A question and answer period will follow Phelan’s presentation. His books will also be available for purchase and signing.
