What the heck is a bobolink?
Learn about bobolinks — relatives to the blackbird and orioles — during walks held by the Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary each Thursday this month at 8 a.m. Participants will discuss bird conservation and practices, and do some birdwatching. The walks are $10 for Mass Audubon members; 12 for non-members. Register online at massaudobon.org, or call the sanctuary at (508) 636-2437.
Friday, June 2
Heal yourself.
Herbalist Brandan Kelly, author of "The Yin and Yang of Climate Crisis," will lead an expedition into Slocum River Reserve to forage for common medicinal herbs and discuss the effects of climate change on local plants. The cost to attend the 9:30 a.m. walk is $15. Kelly will also host a luncheon at the DNRT Center, located at 318 Chase Road, at noon. Catered with sustainable and locally-sourced food by chef Edward Roszak of Mattapoisett's How on Earth, it will also incorporate herbs found on the walk and a discussion on western herbs. The luncheon is $60 to attend. For more information and to order tickets, visit give.classy.org/lymeclimate.
