Dartmouth Post 307 falls to South Attleboro in district tournament

After finishing the regular season and securing a spot in the playoffs, Dartmouth Post 307 fell in the opening round of the American Legion District 9 Playoffs.

Dartmouth secured its spot in the postseason seeded in third place out of 11 teams in the district with an 11-7 regular season record. Facing sixth-seeded South Attleboro on July 15, the team lost the opening game 7-4.

Dartmouth faced a late start to the baseball season, as several athletes were also on Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School’s state championship-winning baseball team. Due to the state tournament, the team couldn’t start their season until it ended.

That meant playing catch-up, which at one point included a demanding schedule of seven back-to-back games. Midway through that series from June 26-July 3, coach Kurt Dreher noted his team was just beginning to come together with a full roster.

South Attleboro faces Somerset in the district semi-finals at a later date.
