Fleetwood Mac tribute band 'landslide' of fun
Fleetwood Mac. Vintage cars. The chance to dunk a cop. What could be better?
The Dartmouth Police Relief Association hosted its 15th annual Concert on the Green on July 29, which featured the tribute band Tusk, a car show, and games.
"It's just something to give back to the community. We don't make a lot of money," said organizer Rich Medeiros. The money raised funds the event and supports scholarships, Medeiros said.
While the chilly weather affected this year’s turnout, Medeiros said, both longtime attendees and newbies looked forward to the event.
"We come every year. We like to support the police," said Lisa Reid, an Assonet resident with ties to Dartmouth.
"We love Fleetwood Mac. We've been looking forward to this all summer," said Mattapoisett resident Holly Turner while sitting at the university's amphitheater.
"I like the cars best," said Tim Tavares, eyeing a Corvette Stingray. He also eagerly awaited for the dunk tank to open.
Officer Amanda Tavares — one of about 25 volunteers hosting the program — manned the Dunk-a-Cop game. The hose supplying the tank was too short, so, for the second year in a row, Tavares shivered in the shade as contestants hit the target.
"It's all in good fun," she said smiling and teasing kids with a water gun.
The Concert on the Green began in 2002 under the direction of Lieutenant Ken Cotta.
