Lucy Sylvia Freitas, 84, of Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank D. Freitas, Jr.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late John and Mary Sylvia, she was raised in New Bedford and had resided in Dartmouth for over 60 years.

Freitas had worked in the textile industry for several years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, attended South Baptist Church, and loved the yearly Portuguese feast, especially the Fado music.

She had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Lucy was a fun loving person, always laughing, and cherished the time spent with her loving family and friends.

Her family includes a son, Randall Freitas of Dartmouth; a step-brother, David Cormier of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Priscilla S. Freitas of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elsie Freitas, Lydia Souza, Florence Arruda, Cecelia Hall, Natalie Rogers, Richard and John Sylvia. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017, 5 p.m. -8pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at South Dartmouth Cemetery. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. for procession to the cemetery.
