Antonio Goncalves, 83, of Dartmouth, passed away on October 28, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was the loving husband of Maria Elizabeth Goncalves and the son of the late Maria Do Carmo (Henriques) and Joao Goncalves. Antonio was born in Salguerras, Portugal.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; children Clara Da Costa and her husband, Agnelo of FL, Jose Antonio Goncalves and his wife, Rita of FL, Denice Vardo and her husband, Jimmy of NB, Carla Murphy and her husband, Michael; grandchildren James Jr., Jason and Joshua Vardo, Michael Jr. and Makayla Murphy, Paulo Batista, Isabel Miguel, Nancy Caswell, Steve, Richard, Arthur and Latoya Goncalves; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Agustinho Goncalves, Ilda Carvalho, Maria Ceu Gomes, Lucio, Hirminia, Jose and Abel Goncalves; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Judith Alegre.

His visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford. Funeral services will be Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 10:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in St. Johns Cemetery.
