Elizabeth L. Hemingway, 86

Elizabeth L. "Betty" (Scully) Hemingway, 86, passed away in the company of loved ones at St. Luke's Hospital on November 1, 2017, stoic in the face of adversity, remarkably witty, and unceasingly optimistic to the last.

Hemingway graduated from Holy Family High School, class of 1949, and was married in 1951. In the 1970's, Betty began a new chapter of her life in Cambridge where, for 20 years, she worked in the Gordon McKay Lab at Harvard University. Upon retirement, Betty returned to Dartmouth to be close to family. Hemingway was the mother of seven, grandmother of 12, and great-grandmother of five. Mother of seven, grandmother of twelve, and great-grandmother of five, Betty is survived by her children, Vincent, Thomas, Barbara, Elizabeth and her husband James Pye, Maureen, Christopher and his wife Cheryle Walker-Hemingway, Peter Jeremy and his wife, Christina Sica Hemingway; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Betty was pre-deceased by her former husband, Vincent Hemingway, and grandsons, twins Thomas and Timothy, and Nicholas.
