Football team defeated in second round of playoffs

Nov 7, 2017

After pulling off a 21-7 win over Nauset in the opening round of the Div. 4 South playoffs, the Indians fell to Hopkinton in the semi-finals 27-0 on November 3.

Hopkinton - which finished the season undefeated and secured the top seed in the division - proved to be a challenge for Dartmouth both offensively and defensively. After a scoreless first quarter, the Hillers put its first touchdown on the scoreboard with an interception. That brought the Hillers up 6-0 with a missed extra point.

The Hillers gained an additional touchdown with five seconds left in the half to secure a 12-0 lead. Two more touchdowns led to the Hillers' 27-0 win.

The loss closes the Indians’ postseason run with a 4-5 overall record. The Indians had previously defeated Nauset on October 27, scoring two touchdowns in a matter of a minute late into the fourth quarter in that game.

The Indians will compete in the traditional Thanksgiving game against Fairhaven on November 23. The game is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Fairhaven High School.
