Learn about using ocean waves for energy, November 30

Nov 20, 2017

University of Massachusetts Dartmouth professors Mehdi Raessi and Dan MacDonald will lead a discussion on harnessing waves for renewable energy on November 30, 3 p.m.

The professors will give a brief overview of the current U.S. and world energy landscape, set in a backdrop of rising concerns about climate change, the finite extent of fossil fuel resources, and increased pressure to find new renewable sources of energy.

The talk will center on the idea of harvesting wave energy as the next major source of renewable energy, and how university researchers are leading those efforts.

The event is part of the university’s ARNIE Talks (Art. Research. Nexus. Innovation. Education), modeled after TED Talks.

The event is open to the public, and will be held at the university library's Grand Reading Room, located at the main campus, 285 Old Westport Road.
