January events at the Senior Center

The Dartmouth Council on Aging has released its schedule of events for the month of January.

The Friday Flick Afternoon will be held on January 12, 12:30 p.m. This month's movie is "Gifted." Popcorn will be served, and transportation to the event is available.

Community Nurse Home Car will present "New Year, Healthy You!" on January 8, 10 a.m. The healthy living program will be hosted by a registered dietitian, and will cover topics including portion control, strategies to keep enjoying delicious food when making diet changes, exercise, and establishing and measuring goals. The Memory Cafe will meet on January 11 and 25, 2-3:30 p.m. The Memory Cafe is a social gathering for those personally dealing with memory loss and those who help care for those with memory challenges. To reserve a seat, contact Amy DiPetro at the Senior Center.

A complementary lunch and bingo will be held on January 24, 11:30 a.m. Hosted by All American Assisted Living, the event will include a lunchy of assorted sandwiches, chips, and dessert. Bingo will begin after lunch. Sign up at the Senior Center front desk.

Singer George Cataldo will host a "Soup and Sandwich" lunch set to music on January 19, 12-2 p.m. His performance will cover hits from the 1940s to the 1970s and more. The cost to attend is $3; sign up at the Senior Center front desk.

The Council on Aging also offers health clinics in several areas.

Podiatrists will be available on January 30. Appointments are required; call the center for more information.

A diabetic shoe clinic will be held on January 11, 11 a.m. Walk-ins are welcome.

Blood pressure clinics are January 12 and 26 at 9 .m. A special fall prevention discussion will be at 10 a.m. on January 26. Walk-ins are welcome.

Legal consultations are on January 9, 10-11 a.m. and legal clinics are January 16, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Both require advance appointment.
