Parks and Recreation accepting summer employment applications

Dartmouth Parks and Recreation is now accepting applications for summer employment.

The department hires 50 seasonal employees for the summer season. Positions available include lifeguards, gate guards, laborers, concession staff, tennis instructors and playground instructors.

Applications for employment for the 2018 summer season can be printed online from the town’s website www.town.dartmouth.ma.us under the Parks and Recreation link. The application is detailed and must be completed thoroughly in order for an interview to be scheduled. Those who have worked for the department in the past can download a condensed version of the application.

Employees must adhere to strict policies and procedures A drug screening policy has been instituted to insure the quality of the staff and the safety of citizens and children using beach and playground facilities.

Interviews will be scheduled during after school hours on the week of April 30 for selected applicants. Applicants will not be made aware of their actual interview time until a week prior to the interview.

Those applicants selected for hire will be notified within two weeks from the interview date, and will be required to attend the mandatory orientation scheduled on June 4.

The final application deadline is March 30 for returning applicants and April 20 for new applicants.

Lifeguards are subject to a swim test, which is conducted at Round Hill Beach. It is mandatory for all lifeguards, and will be held on May 30. Final acceptance for hiring is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of this test.

All summer hires must complete a CPR/AED certification course at their expense before starting work. A course will be set up through Parks and Recreation at a reduced cost to each hire.
