Maple sugaring program returns to Dartmouth

Feb 20, 2018

The Dartmouth YMCA will host its Sweet Science of Maple Sugaring sessions in March after receiving more funding.

The program originally began back in the 1990s with the Dartmouth Children’s Museum overseeing the event that over 1,000 students participated in each winter.

The YMCA took over the event in 2014. The sessions include an hour-long tour at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Participants will learn tree identification, the history of maple sugaring, collect sap, do tastings and sugaring. The event is held rain or shine.

The sessions will take place March 3, 10 and 17 at Sharing the Harvest Community Farm at the Dartmouth YMCA.
