Encompass program adds oil painting class

Feb 20, 2018

The Encompass Community at Friends Academy has added a new oil painting class to its lineup of programming.

The class will allow children to playfully experiment with oil-based mediums, as they explore painting technique and mix their way through color theory. Topics including emotion and influence of famous artists will be covered while discussing fine art genres within the oils category.

Students will produce a final project which may include an original oil painting or a thoughtful reflection of personal style and symbolism.

The course is offered alongside the community’s Music and STEAM Mini Maker-Space programs on Wednesday afternoons, with the next session beginning on February 28. Classes are suitable for children aged 6-14, and meet for one hour on Wednesdays at either 3:30-4:30 p.m. or 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The cost is $10 per class. A single session is six weeks long.

The community also offers a nature expeditions class suitable for children between the ages of 6-14 which meets on Mondays and Wednesdays with flex starting dates from 9:15-12:30 p.m. The cost is $40 per day and sibling discounts are available. Family classes and playgroups are also offered for 3-6 year olds.
