Dartmouth residents will soon have a new place to shop for furniture, as Bob’s Furniture Store plans to move into a Faunce Corner Road shopping center.

Bob’s Furniture Store will be moving into the building on once owned by Ann and Hope Curtain Outlet at 53 Faunce Corner Road. The outlet is now just down the way at 57 Faunce Corner Mall.

To acomidate the store, officials proposed a 11,296 square foot building expansion, which secured Planning Board approval to move forward with a preliminary phase.

Phase one will mainly address infrastructure and any other site issues minus some landscaping, which the tenant will acknowledge in phase two, according to Gus Rasposo, the engineer on the project.

Planning Board member John Sousa asked the contractors to take note of the towns new guidelines regarding design standards. The new regulations ask business owners to design their buildings with a more New England type look.

This includes the design of the roof, which limits owners from just doing the standard flat roof and looking for more of a peaked roof. According to the Planning Board this makes the buildings more appealing to the eyes and more unique.

The phase one site review did not give many details as to what the exact design of the building will be, but it is expected to be covered in the phase two site review.

Construction on phase one is expected to begin next month. Phase two is anticipated for August.
