Hilda Tavares, 99, of South Dartmouth, died peacefully on March 18, 2018 at her home.

She was the widow of John Tavares, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage at his passing and daughter of the late Joseph Medeiros and Gloria (Pavao) Martin.

Born in New Bedford, she resided in South Dartmouth since 1955 and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in South Dartmouth.

She was employed as a floor lady at Langshaw Manufacturing until her retirement. She was a member of the Moose Golden Ages.

Her family includes her daughter, Elaine Drace and her husband, Harold of Pennsylvania; her grandson, Kevin Rocha and his wife, Leslie of Texas; her brother, Alvarino G. Medeiros of New Bedford; her late sister-in-law, Elsie Medeiros and 2 nephews, Roy Medeiros and Alan Medeiros

Interment was in St. John Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
