William Medeiros, 87

William Medeiros, 87, of South Dartmouth, died on, April 8, 2018 at his daughter's home following a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Trinidad) Medeiros.

Born and raised in New Bedford, Medeiros resided in Dartmouth and was a communicant of St. Mary Church in South Dartmouth.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, and attained the rank of Airman, First Class. His decorations include the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a member of American Legion, Post No. 1.

He was employed as a supervisor at National Silver Co. until his retirement.

An avid soccer player in his younger years, he was also a devoted fan of New England sports teams.

His family includes his former wife, Yvette (Lefrancois) Medeiros of Dartmouth; one son, William M. Medeiros of Dartmouth; three daughters, Sandra A. Lawson and John Lawson, Kelly J. Medeiros and Nancy J. Mahoney and her companion, Randy Mello, all of Dartmouth; two grandchildren, Jenna Lawson and Sara Lawson; godson Richard Medeiros and his wife, Eileen; several other nieces and nephews; and his companion, Millie Abraham of Rhode Island.

He was the brother of Sophie, Eva, Lillian and the late Antone, Manuel, Joseph, Frank, Alice, and Rose.

His Mass of Christian burial with cremains present will be celebrated in St. Mary Church, South Dartmouth, on April 20 at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery will be for family only.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
