Apr 16, 2018

The South Coast Bikeway Alliance will host its 8th annual Bike Summit on May 3, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Taber Community Center, 1000A S. Rodney French Blvd in New Bedford.

The event was previously scheduled for March 22, but was postponed due to snow.

This year’s summit will focus on “Closing the Gaps." Alliance officials will discuss numerous pathway projects underway in the area, large and small, within the South Coast community.

David Loutzenheiser, Chief Project Coordinator for a new MetroWest LandLine initiative and Senior Transportation Planner at the (Boston) Metropolitan Area Planning Council will be the keynote speaker.

The event will also serve as a celebration of recently completed bikeway projects in New Bedford and Fall River, and updates and the latest news on planned projects in Dartmouth, at UMass Dartmouth, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Wareham, including a proposal to link New Bedford and Fall River with a 3.5-mile greenway north of I-195.

Light refreshments will be offered. Pre-registration is appreciated. Visit southcoastbikeway.com and click on "events calendar” to pre-register.
