Contract ratified with new town administrator

The Select Board has ratified a contract with incoming town administrator Shawn MacInnes.

The three-year contract was approved by a 4-1 vote at the June 4 Select Board meeting. It comes several weeks after the board voted to appoint MacInnes to the position pending the outcome of contract negotiations.

John Haran cast the dissenting vote. He had pitched the idea of hiring current interim town administrator Greg Barnes at a previous Select Board meeting instead of one of three final candidates.

Details about compensation, pay, and other terms were not available. McDonald said the contract still has to be finalized by town counsel and signed by MacInnes before it is publicly released.

The board picked MacInnes over two other final candidates at its May 7 meeting. The selection ended a process which began last year, when previous town administrator David Cressman announced his retirement.

Since then, an outside company took in a total of 49 applicants, which was narrowed down to a final group of eight for consideration by a screening committee. The committee came up with a final list of three candidates for consideration by the full board.
