Lots to do at the Council on Aging this August and September

Compete in team trivia and eat pizza with Sue and Roger on the first and last Tuesdays of the month, August 7 and 28, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $1 and walk-ins are welcome.

Watch “Chappaquiddick,” this month’s Tuesday matinee, on the second Tuesday of the month, August 14, at 1:30 p.m. This event is free and includes popcorn, and transportation is available. Call the center to sign up.

On Wednesday, August 22, attend the Summer Shindig at 12 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Billy Couto. The cost to attend is $4 and must be paid in advance.

Get help using your personal laptop at the new computer clinic on Monday, August 27, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $10 for a 30 minute session, and the instructor does not do repairs.

Take part in a new class about Body Awareness for Fall Prevention on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The class costs $1 and walk-ins are welcome.

At the Compassion Fatigue and Dementia Caregiver Workshop, caregiver stress and burnout will be discussed. Effective self-care methods and strategies will be offered, along with tips and techniques regarding behavioral and mood changes related to dementia. There an option for questions and discussion. The workshop will happen on September 7 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please call the Center to pre-register.

On September 20, the Center will host "Dementia and Your Community: A Training for Community Professionals," presented by the Alzheimer's Association. For more information, call Nancy at the center. Pre-registration is required.
