Two arrested on drug charges on McCabe Street

A New Bedford man is under arrest after allegedly nearly hitting a Dartmouth police detective with his car.

According to Dartmouth police, the incident happened at 3:03 p.m. on McCabe Street. Officers attempted to arrest Erick Roman, 29, of New Bedford as part of a drug investigation.

Instead, Roman allegedly attempted to hit Dartmouth police detectives with his car. He was pulled out of his car by police. His car continued rolling until it struck a parked vehicle.

Roman was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for evaluation after officers reported they had observed Roman allegedly ingest drugs.

Roman faces charges of possession with intent to distribute a class B drug, conspiracy to violate drug laws, failure to stop for police, assault with a dangerous weapon (a motor vehicle), and resisting arrest.

Dartmouth police also arrested Kelly Oliveira, of McCabe Street, for possession of a Class B drug, possession of a class C drug, and conspiracy to violate drug laws as part of a narcotics investigation.
