David J. Demoranville, 72, of South Dartmouth died Monday, June 24 at the Oaks after an almost 15-year-long and hard-fought battle with multiple forms of cancer, with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Marion (Rapoza) Demoranville, his daughter Pamela L. Oliveira and her husband Mark, and his two grandchildren Jessa Lynn and Ewan Mark Oliveira all of South Dartmouth. 

 

Born in Acushnet, MA, a son of the late Fredrick DeMoranville Sr. and the late Adela (Scieszka) Arruda, David worked as a supervisor at American Pride Seafood (formerly known as Frionor) where he was a very hard and dedicated worker and where he retired from in 2012. In 2017, during retirement, he began working as a part-time security guard at Dartmouth High School. 

 

David would spend everyday outside working on his yard if the sun was shining — sometimes even when it wasn’t. He loved working on his yard with his John Deere tractor, and his grandson, Ewan, and then would relax to watch the birds and listen to the wind chimes with a cold beer, or a root beer float, at the end of the day in his gazebo. He was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. Almost every Sunday morning, or any morning that they could, he loved to take his wife and daughter and grandkids out for breakfast. Everyone who met him would say what a wonderful and kind-hearted soul he had. 

 

Along with his wife, daughter, and grandchildren, David was also the brother to Patricia Andrade, and her husband Leonard, of New Hampshire, Steven Arruda of Freetown, and the late Richard “JoJo” DeMoranville, Fredrick DeMoranville Jr., and Edward DeMoranville. He also has several nieces and nephews, godchildren, and cousins. 

 

Visiting hours in the funeral home Sunday, June 30 from 3-6 p.m. His funeral will be conducted Monday, July 1, 2019 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in St. Mary Church, So. Dartmouth at 10 a.m. Interment in Rural Cemetery.
