The Dartmouth Police Department is going high-tech to fight crime with a new tip reporting and alert system.

The new system, called tip411, is now live. It is an interactive reporting and alerting system, which works via email, text message, online, or through an app. Residents can report crimes or other suspicious activity directly to police, and the system can also be used by police to send alerts to residents. 

To use the new system to anonymously report crimes, suspicious activity, or tips, residents can send a text message to 847411 (tip411) with “DartmouthPD” in the body of the text message along with the message to send. 

Messages can be sent online via a web form on the department’s website, dartmouthpd.org, or via the “Dartmouth PD” app available for Android and Apple devices. 

Residents can register to receive alerts from police via email and/or text message by signing up online or downloading the app. 

Messages received through tip411 are not monitored at all times. In the event of an emergency, residents should call 911 if immediate assistance is required.
