UMass Dartmouth holds virtual events

May 13, 2020

UMass Dartmouth is holding a virtual open house for prospective graduate students after last week’s virtual commencement celebration, which took place during what would have been the school’s graduation ceremony before the pandemic hit.

The Charlton College of Business will be hosting a virtual open house for its graduate business programs in two sessions: Wednesday, May 13 at noon and Tuesday, May 19 at 2 p.m.

On Friday, May 15 at 1 p.m., the business school will also host an open house for any current students interested in the 4+1 business masters, including information on the MBA, accounting, finance, and healthcare and technology management programs.

Those interested in the open house can register from the UMass Dartmouth website events page.

The virtual open house comes just one week after the university celebrated the class of 2020 during what would have been their graduation on May 8.

In-person commencement ceremonies have been postponed until October.

While not able to celebrate together, students, faculty, staff, and alumni cheered for each other virtually, according to a press release.

The 1,410 undergraduates, 412 graduate students, 45 doctoral students, and 60 law students started their day by receiving an official letter of congratulations from Chancellor Robert Johnson.

“I am so proud of you for finishing your undergraduate degree. You have persevered during a historic semester,” Johnson said. “To say it was challenging is understating what you went through, but the fact remains that you made it to the end. You earned your degree. No matter how chaotic the world is around you, that will not change.”
